Welcome to our Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) practice. With an integrative approach to healing, we offer whole-person services for the entire family. Dr. Kenneth Lossing is board certified in family practice medicine as well as osteopathic manipulative treatment.

Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) is a comprehensive view and treatment of the complex structures of the body and its relationship to health and disease and mobilizes the body’s capacity for self-healing. OMT combines knowledge of physiology, biomechanics — and in the case of Ken Lossing (D.O.) and Margret Klein (Osteopathic Aide) — the viscera (the relationship of organs to the body’s interconnected structures), the craniosacral system and nerves, the fluid system (arteries, veins, lymph).

Doctors of Osteopathy (DOs) trained in the United States have official parity with the Doctors of Medicine (MDs) and can prescribe medication. But because of the nature of Ken and Margret’s gentle hands-on, integrative approach to Whole Person Medicine, patient relief from symptoms may be immediate and without the use of medications.

The Spectrum of Treatment

Using a variety of osteopathic approaches, Ken and Margret treat common ailments in a few visits (generally without prescription medicine) such as:

• Acid reflux and other digestive disorders

• Stress incontinence (affecting 30-40% of women older than 65 and also women after childbirth)

• Enlarged prostate

• Respiratory problems (including asthma)

• Lower back, neck and general structural issues of all the joints in the upper and lower extremities — as an alternative to orthopedic or other customary medical modalities

In their family practice, they also work with children, infants, and newborns. In instances of earaches, flus, colds, injuries (such as falls), lymphatic drainage and general immune issues, OMT can provide immediate relief. Even children who have experienced traumatic childbirth can be treated for disorders such as cranial asymmetry, regurgitation, and nerve compression. When these symptoms are dealt with early in childhood, further complications possibly can be avoided later in life.

Unlike other modalities, Ken and Margret often successfully treat many symptoms in several visits, and then assess results to determine if further treatment is necessary, saving patients time and money. Most of their patients have been in search of alternative or complementary solutions to ongoing medical problems or when other treatments were unsuccessful. Their referral base is through patients, friends and a variety of medical and alternative practitioners.
